A good summary for why Joe Wilcox should be more skeptical on Chrome comes from Joe himself. Joe notes the story of a couple of journalism schools who have decided to strongly recommend Apple kit to its incoming students, which lead to this photo becoming viral across the Mac corners of the net.
To wit, an argument is that the big future in computing will be social networking and content creation and sharing. Joe has noted that Apple is nicely positioned by providing their iLife application suite with every machine purchased, while Mcrosoft can't bundle anything lest they subject themselves to anti-trust action by America or Europe. Now, the problem with regards to Google ChromeOS is that today, with data sizes involved in creating visual content -- particularly video -- a suite of video or photo editing tools in the cloud would entail lengthy transfers of gigabytes up and down from the internet. I cannot really see such a thing becoming common even in late 2010. You'll want to edit that video locally.
