I wonder if Heather of Crooks and Liars has actually thought through what she is implying with this post criticizing Elaine Chao and the Fox Business Channel insufficient disclosure of her marital status. To suggest that someone only holds the views she does because her spouse holds the same views is demeaning and perhaps a little bit sexist as well. It is quite possible she came to her views independent of Mitch McConnell. She has been active in politics since at least 1986 in the Reagan and George H. W. Bush Administrations. She has only married McConnell in 1993.
Someone who watching Fox Business during her interview would be alerted that she was Labor Secretary during the George W. Bush Administration, which most of us would realize was rather right-wing and business friendly. At the least, it would alert the viewer she is very likely a Republican, and would hold their political views. But would her point wouldn't be any more or less true if she wasn't married to McConnell. She would likely be just as Republican if she was single or married to a Democrat. Just ask Mr. and Mrs. James Carville.
